The Bahá'í Community of Delta
Summer 2010 Newsflash
One instance from just a few days ago captures the spiritual presence of the first children's class held in a neighbourhood in Langley. A Bahá'í was leaving the home of a friend when she heard "angelic voices" singing a song she recognized: "I thought I was dreaming... I saw 3 youth and 8 or 9 kids all in circle and holding hand and singing. I was in tears and so excited. I am not able to say much but it was the most amazing moment for me and makes my whole 14 years here in Langley worth while." The class happened only because a small dedicated team persisted in their efforts to deepen friendships in this neighbourhood through visits, acts of service, and placing a homefront pioneer there. Furthermore, this team did not wait or find reason to hesitate to start the activities that drive the process of community building - first a junior youth group, then a devotional meeting, and now a children's class. Pictures from the class are attached.
Let us remember that as we strive towards these goals that the purpose is not merely to achieve a numeric threshold. Rather, this enterprise we are engaged in is concerned with building a totally new civilization the likes of which humanity has never imagined, and as we grow in quantity and quality we advance closer to that horizon. As we arise this summer, let us reflect these words from the Universal House of Justice: "Press forward, undaunted by vicissitudes of an ailing world and confident in your capacity to overcome all obstacles." With loving Bahá'í greetings, BAHÁ'Í COUNCIL OF BRITISH COLUMBIA
